Prevalence of Connectivity Enters into Auto Industry through Telematics

Connectivity is gaining immense importance among consumers, as they are getting used to operating most appliances through their smartphones. A couple of years ago, connectivity in automobiles through telematics was an add-on for vehicles in the premium section. However, today it has become a necessity for automakers to ensure high growth in sales, as consumers expect their cars to perform most functions that their smartphones or computers carry out commonly.

Furthermore, connectivity has also an important place in fleet and asset management applications. Fleet managers across the world are implementing digital safety features for precision diagnostics and enhancement of various other business decisions. Automotive telematics is changing the face of connectivity in the global automotive industry for both, fleet managers as well as consumers.

Demand Grows as Insurance Companies Aim to Promote Safe Driving

Automotive telematics is witnessing a dramatic surge in demand as a majority of car insurance companies are increasing focus on advocating for driver’s safety. The journey is mainly triggered by the need to work on the high-stakes areas of digital claims.

Along with creating digital automation platforms, car insurance companies are promoting automotive telematics features to encourage safe driving, especially among young drivers. Some companies can also be seen to have joined forces with automotive companies, pushing the strategy of combining gamification with automotive telematics to capture the attention of young drivers.

Auto insurance companies have adopted strategies to put real-time driver data, which they collect from automotive telematics systems, to use. Using the data to design and develop insurance policies that can appeal to young customers is becoming among the important strategies for these companies. This, in turn, is expected to push the use of automotive telematics in the emerging auto industry.

Are Fleet Management Applications Shaping the Future of Automotive Telematics?

The number of vehicles sold across the world is continually on the rise over the past decade. Recently, automotive service providers have begun to experience great challenges, not only in terms of fleet management but also in improving safety and fleet efficiency. Furthermore, fleet managers also identify the problem of not having one, single platform to manage and access important driver data and information across all their vehicles and services.

Leading players in the automotive telematics market are focusing on introducing tech-driven fleet management software to address these pain points of their customers. Integration of cloud-based servers with automotive telematics software is among the indispensable features of modern offerings in the fleet management segment in the market. Through cloud servers, companies are enabling end-users to get access to centralized data, ultimately digitalizing the entire fleet management ecosystem.

This way, a majority of automotive telematics service providers are streamlining their future business strategies on making fleet management more tech-driven. The coming years are likely to showcase an increase in the number of automotive telematics solutions integrated with various software that enable related operations such as predictive fleet maintenance and customer relationship management.
