The Jamaican cigarette market is small with duty paid consumption falling dramatically in recent years. Recent increases in the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) have done much to dent duty paid sales, which have fallen sharply on an annual basis since 2008. Additionally, the introduction of a smoking ban in 2013 contributed to a further reduction of cigarette consumption levels in Jamaica.
