Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have intentionally collaborated clean technology innovations in small and standard enterprises (SMEs) and start-up businesses.
This initiative is a part of a three years Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) which is currently functioning in six different countries including Pakistan. This program is aimed at developing sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem and start up entrepreneurs by supporting clean technology innovations in SMEs. This process helps in maximizing their opportunities to achieve sustainable commercial success.
All these matters were discussed during a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) by Muhammad Matloob Khan National Programme Coordinator.
ICCI will team up with UNIDO inviting Pakistani entrepreneurs to organize a clean technology competition and initiate the best business ideas and prototypes in the field of renewable energy, waste to energy, energy efficiency and water efficiency. These innovations will be in alignment to the present pressing energy, environmental and economic challenges.
The perks from this program will be as follows; the four best business ideas will receive $25,000 (cash and services) while the national winner of the competition will receive $30,000 which will be funded to participate in the Cleantech Open’s Annual Global Forum to be held in Silicon Valley USA in November 2014. All the aspiring entrepreneurs are requested to apply online through the Cleantech Open’s Pakistan website.
ICCI’s top priority was to promote entrepreneurship in the youth, said Shaban Khalid President ICCI. He has insisted more and more entrepreneurs to participate in the competition as it would provide them great networking opportunities, events and meetings, access to investors and potential customers, participation in clean technologies and business related workshops, and also get chance to work with experts and professional mentors in order to learn tools and techniques for achieving better success in business.
