Qualcomm, one of the largest mobile chipmakers, predicts immense success of 5G technology in India. It holds out great promise for both enterprises and consumers. Qualcomm Incorporated president added that the cheap data services of Reliance Jio has enabled the transition from 3G to 4G at very fast pace in India. He expects the nation to transition into 5G from 4G swiftly, much like it did from 3G to 4G.
5G is also expected to create profound impact on the industries and the markets. Qualcomm has taken initiative towards global establishment of the new-generation 5G technology. It is also working with app developers, device makers, and ecosystem players like regulators, alongside industries to roll out 5G.
Launching of 5G to Facilitate Incorporation of IoT
The advent of 5G would not only promise the higher internet speeds but also help support internet of Things (IoT) deployment. This would remarkably impact sectors such as education, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing, among others. Qualcomm has been actively promoting the wireless fifth generation technology across the world, including India, in the past two years. It expects the technology to be more mainstream by 2020, globally.
The new technology is expected to be exploited globally, across countries like Korea, the U.S., China in 2019. It promises to deliver download speed of over 1,000 megabits per second on mobile devices. Although Indian government has not yet announced the specific timeline of launching 5G, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha recently added that there’s no chance to be missed out of the 5G bus. India is expecting the rolling out of 5G services followed by the spectrum auction, would be held in the later part of 2019.
