A news report released on Tuesday discussed the comments by a NATO member in Warsaw, Poland stating that Poland is to attain the combat drones to extend aid to Ukraine against all the air space activities in Russia. The drones are a part of a multi-billion-euro facelift which will eventually help as armed forces amid the tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

Czeslaw Mroczek, Deputy Defense Minister told AFP that these drones are procured to defend the territory. However, he is informed by a Ukrainian colleague about a severe problem that Russian drones are functioning in Ukrainian air territory to deviate their artillery targets. In this case, the Ukrainians feel totally helpless, said Mroczek.

Warsaw has plans to attain the reconnaissance drones in the next three years and further plan the attack models in 2018-2019. The negotiations are ongoing with US manufacturers and others for CUAVs or combat unmanned aerial vehicles.

Poland is acclaimed for earmark of €33.6 billion ($42 billion) in the effort to upgrade its military equipment. In addition to the drones, the gamut of equipment includes armored personnel carriers, submarines, and acquiring a missile shield and anti-aircraft systems.

NATO’s eastern flank has been alarmed with the escalation of tensions seen with Russia over Ukrainian crisis. These tensions have mounted all the more as NATO interrupted nuclear-Russian bombers and other warplanes in the air space of Europe on every occasion by far this year or three times more than all of 2013.
