Globally consumers are becoming more aware, citing which Panera Bread is likely to banish the use of artificial preservatives from its kitchen. First they are planning to ban an artificial sweetener, and then they are preparing to ban a preservative. Following which the restaurant has announced that it will ban a flavor enhancer. However, these are just a couple of the ingredients that the company wants to stop using by the end of 2016.
Once successfully implemented its plan of banishing the use of artificial preservatives, colorants, and sweeteners from their kitchen, Panera Bread would join the brigade of restaurants and companies who have taken up the objective of eliminating the use of a variety of artificial flavorings, sweeteners, preservatives, and colors. Moreover according to reports, the company is even planning to give up on using the meat of animals, which are raised on antibiotics. The company revealed the decision has been taken to address the consumer demands for simplicity and transparency of the food they eat.
Speaking about their decision to ban the usage artificial enhancers in their food, the chief executive officers for Panera, Ron Shaich said, the company is intending to promote transparency in operation so that consumers can easily access and know any information about the food that they wish to buy.
In the last six months, more than a dozen of restaurants and companies have formulated policies to ensure they provide only quality products to consumers and eliminate the use of any artificial ingredients. As told by Carl Jorgensen, the director for global consumer strategy at Daymon World, a leading consulting firm told, that the restaurants banishing the use of artificial ingredients is way more than a food fad and is likely to become a strong trend in the near future.
