Selfie-culture is going viral, and Instagram, a Facebook-owned photo-sharing app and commenting portal, is gaining strong traction from it. Now, like every business, Instagram needed a mode of earnings and if rumors are to be believed, Nike has pounced on the opportunity. Although Nike are known for its sports products, their collaboration with Instagram might just change the way stilettos are sold and worn.
Last weekend, Nike Inc. said that they will be selling a few of its products via Instagram. Though the details are yet to be finalized, the Oregon-based company has revealed its plans to enable customers to show for fashion products seamlessly on its portal. Selling luxury, retail, and beauty brands via online advertising has been around for quite some time now, but very few have got it just right in order to maintain customer experience as well as flourishing the business aspects.
Can Instagram Overcome Failed Social Media Advertising Campaigns
It must be noted that a number of previous efforts, by Facebook on its non-instagram portals, by Twitter via its buy-button, and by Pinterest, have failed to merger business with pleasure ideally, but Instagram hopes that its 700 million monthly users will gain from the advertisements of Nike products, because its glossy magazine-style aspects.
Instagram has been consistently developing its buy button to increase its commerce capabilities for two years now, and last year they stepped up its retail assault by allowing brand owners to be tagged in their photos. As many as 20 brands, including Kate Spade, J.Crew, and Warby Parker have been featuring on the portal. The users of Instagram can now tap to buy on the retailer’s site.
