Inshorts - the news aggregator app debuts artificial intelligence (AI) based news summarization. Inshorts’ Rapid60 algorithm can automatically summarize a full new article into a 60 words one. The 60 word summarization includes a headline as well as a card image.
Human curation of news articles has limitations on the number of articles that can be produced. Artificial intelligence based news curation allows 10,000 to 1 lakh articles every month that can be produced. The Rapid60 algorithm has been in functional for over a year, stated by Inshorts CEO. The algorithm has been tested for more than half million articles that were summarized by Inshorts editors in the past five years.
Favorable Outcome of Pilots Endorsed Efficacy of Summarization Algorithm
At present, Inshorts will use the algorithm for summarization of long-tail content and niche interest stories. However, the top read stories will continue to be manually written as they need extreme vacation. Prior to finalizing, a number of pilots were carried out to attain a certain accuracy. The solution has by and large served to remove drawbacks of the system and helped to create a fast-paced platform for summarization of news.
Earlier recently, Inshorts claimed to have attained operational profitability in November 2017. The news site hit a net revenue of Rs 25 crore in 2017 over Rs 3 crore in 2016. The news site is targeting a net revenue of Rs 100 crore for the fiscal year 2018. The revenue for the fiscal year 2018 will be coming from branded partnerships and sponsored content.
