The French have done it again by turning something as unappealing as a wind turbine into a piece of art by installing two f them on the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is a monument of creativity and also sustainability now. When the tower was built 1889, it was intended only to last around 20 years. However, in the ensuing one hundred and twenty six years the Eiffel Tower has gone through several renovations; however the latest still sends a strong green message for the future.

According to an engineer they oversaw the project for the New York based organization UGE. This tower consumes around 6.7 giga watts of electricity power annum and hence the wind turbines are just a small drop in the ocean.

In the last month, the energy company called Urban Green Energy installed wind turbines which are on the metal scaffolding of the Eiffel Tower. These wind turbines will generate around 10,000 kilo watt hours of energy. This energy amount is enough to power up the tower’s 1st floor commercial space which includes several restaurants, souvenir shop and also the exhibits about the history of the Eiffel Tower.

These turbines are a part of the plan to decrease the impact of the tower on the environment. According to an organization which runs the tower, the organization is also installing other pro-eco systems. These include installation of rainwater collection systems, solar panels, and LED lights.

Other regions in Paris are also aiming at green makeover. Later during this month, a few streets in this city will get their own wind turbines which are camouflaged and shaped like that of trees.
