According to Xinhua, a lot of deals varying from infrastructure to energy to culture and education will be signed and agreed during the two-day visit of China President Xi Jinping in Pakistan visit which will begin from Monday. This will be Xi Jinping’s first visit among all the South Asian countries from 2013, from when he holds the position of the presidentship.

During the Pakistan visit, Pakistan and China will be signing deals on a diversified range of issues which comprises infrastructure, energy, education, and culture. These are some of the anticipated sectors which will inject powerful and fresh impetus and further will help in deepening the friendly relationship and comprehensive cooperation between China and Pakistan. Xi Jinping’s high agenda will involve discussion about the CPEC - China Pakistan Economic Corridor that has been planned to join the south western Gwadar port in Pakistan and Kashgar in China’s Xinjiang province.

Gwadar Port in Pakistan is warm water and deep sea port which is located on the Arabian Sea at Gwadar in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. Located hardly some distance outside the Strait of Hormuz this port is very adjacent to the prominent oil routes that go in and out of the Gulf of Persia. It is also the closest warm water seaport to the land-locked and energy affluent Central Asian republics.

During the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s to Pakistan held in May 2013, these two nations had agreed on building an economic corridor which will connect the Pakistan port to the  Kashgar city in Xinjiang, China.

The CPEC will reduce the routes of oil and gas imports of from the Middle East and Africa by thousands of kilometers. This will make the port of Gwadar, a potentially and vital link in the supply chain of China.
