The growing awareness about healthy diet has led an increasing number of customers to include proteins in their diet. This has led to a surging demand for poultry and meat across the globe. Raw meat as well as processed meat has witnessed high demand across various regions. The market players are focusing on introducing innovative products in the raw meat and processed meat categories. In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration has emphasized on maintaining the quality of meat while the meat products are on shelves across supermarkets. Companies not complying with the regulations laid down by FDA are frequently asked to recall their products.
Company Recalls 195,597 Pounds of P.F. Chang’s Chicken and Beef
The recent case of product recall in the chicken and beef categories is of ConAgra Foods. The recall of the company’s P.F. Chang’s chicken and beef products is due to the detection of extraneous materials such as metals. As a result, the company has recalled a total of 195,597 pounds of chicken and beef of the particular brand. As of now, no injuries have been reported. The metal fragments are in size range of 2 to 9 mm in diameter, and are malleable, shiny, and curled.
Rise in such incidents have raised serious concerns about the manufacturing processes of meat products. While the regulatory authorities are trying to implement stringent regulations to curb such incidents, product recalls of such magnanimous proportions would undermine the consumer confidence on such major brands.
