China is trying to reclaim approximately seven reefs in the Spratly archipelago, as per Philippean officials. In the middle of the claims, it is anticipated the island will have a area that will be big enough to hold a airstrip that could be 3,000 meter long.

China is creating the artificial islands very fast for Beijing to be able to expand its defense forces and coastguard in no time, as per sources.

As per a report by The Diplomat, the whole Mischief Reef is filled with coral and sand that covers an area of 2.42 square kilometers in a period of only few months.

As per satellite images taken of the area, 23 dredgers and at least 24 large vessels related for construction purposes, along with few dozens of trucks used for concrete mixing have been viewed.

The website also makes the claim that in the whole area, only two sites of land fill activity and dredging could be detected at Subi Reef- which is about 14 miles from the Philippean outpost of Thitu Island as captured in February 2015.

By April 17, as per satellite images it reveals how an entire island has been developed on the reef.

As per the highest ranking soldier on Thitu, in the last two years extensive development has been witnessed. The expansion is a threat as it moves closer.
