At the forthcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple executives are set to take the stage to apprise the company’s software strategy and hardware ambitions for next year. Each year, upgrades on operating systems that power the Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple watch, and Apple TV are so much touted that tie people even closer to their devices and keep them hooked to latest apps and games.

Device Usage Monitoring Tool to be bundled Under Settings Menu of iOS 12

This year at the conference Apple is said to emphasize on cutting gadget time. Apple engineers have undertaken an initiative Digital Health – a series of instruments that helps users to monitor time spent on their devices and on certain applications. iOS 12 – as the Apple’s refreshed mobile operating system is likely to be named will contain the details of the tool bundled into a menu under settings.

As stated by a former senior Apple executive, users need tool and data to understand consumption pattern of digital media. What is important for users is to get finergrain language and the understanding that an iPhone is only a refrigerator.

Earlier in the year, California State Teachers’ Retirement System and Apple investors Jana Partners condemned the addictive nature of Apple devices. The Cupertino based technology giant responded and said it would incorporate more ‘robust’ parenteral controls for monitoring the use of products.

However, Apple faces less threat of rising concern of smartphone addiction that other tech giants. Apple’s big business lies in selling hardware and with incorporation of Digital Health software upgrades will coax users to own new devices rolled out by the company.
