With economic development, environmental problems are becoming more and more serious in China, and people are increasingly concerned about environmental protection. Due to the relatively weak foundation of environmental management there, environmental monitoring instruments as the environmental protection base cannot fully meet development needs, thus showing a broad market space. China’s environmental monitoring instruments industry achieved revenue of RMB6.311 billion in 2008 and RMB12.616 billion in January-November 2012. 

The 12th Five-Year Plan for National Environmental Monitoring issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) includes the standardized construction of monitoring stations at all levels, PM2.5, ozone and other environmental quality monitoring indicators into the monitoring system, plus the nitrogen oxide emissions reduction target-setting and implementation of 12th Five-Year Plan for Energy Saving, which will all promote the rapid evolution of Chinese environmental monitoring industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
