With continuously decreasing gas prices, the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, also known as Sinopec, is eyeing to venture in the food market. Given the present state of condition in the gas market, the company has decided to focus less on its core business of oil refining and gasoline sales, and instead foray the food and beverage market as a seller of tourist packages and gourmet food.
Taking a step ahead in its plan of foraying the food and beverage market Sinopec announced the opening of its very first convenience store online, which will be hosted by Alibaba Group’s BABA, which is known as the largest ecommerce platform in China. Through this site Sinopec would sell gourmet delicacies from Wuyi Mountains situated in the southwestern country-side of Fujian, as reported by Securities Daily on Tuesday.
As per reports, the new Sinopec cyber market will sell products ranging from Wuyi oolong tea, to dried bamboo shoots, and from chestnuts to even salted pressed ducks. If you to get your pressed duck to be delivered quickly, you can opt for purchasing the same from your nearest Sinopec gas station, as mentioned in the report.
Apart from food stuffs, Sinopec will also offer a range of tourism services for interested people who wants to visit the resorts located across the region. The oil refiner will take the responsibility of making your hotel bookings and your tickets for arranging a delightful visit to the local Wuyi attraction.
The decision of foraying in such business is viewed as a conscious effort planned and taken on part of Sinopec to leverage the Internet and to become a nationwide “Integrated Service Provider”.
