The businesses in Ningbo, one of biggest international trading cities in China, are exploring the scope of the life sciences and healthcare industry in Nottingham, the U.K. as they plan to venture into the city’s market.
A delegation from Ningbo is on a tour to Nottingham and has been analyzing the markets in Nottingham as part of increasing trade between China and the U.K. The SME China Forum, which is run by the China Britain Business Council, has held a meet in the British city earlier this week.
On Sep 23rd, 2015, a group of 15 Ningbo-based companies were taken on a tour to showcase the strength of medical and healthcare, and scientific enterprises in Nottingham where they met a number of companies at MediCity. They also met the director of policy, Mr. Andrew Bonser, at Walgreens Boots Alliance.
After that, the group went to Juniper Pharma Services, situated at Nottingham Business Park, where the met Mr. Nikin Patel, the president of Juniper. He stated that a lot of the heritage in their business comes from the University of Nottingham, which has very strong links with Ningbo. They want to study more about the opportunities in China and this visit is helping them in doing that.
In Ningbo, medical technology and pharmaceuticals are the major sectors with hundreds of enterprises, providing employment to thousands of people.
Mr. Yu Jianwei, the Chairman of Health BioMed Co. and a part of the delegation, has expressed pleasure over this move and has stated that they have been very impressed by what they have seen in Nottingham, specifically the equipment and the facilities. He further added that safety is extremely important in their industry and they want to see more collaboration between businesses in China and the U.K.
