Qualcomm Incorporated recently declared that its ancillary arm Qualcomm Technologies has included the Qualcomm Snapdragon X5 LTE modem (9x28) and Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem (9x40) to its Snapdragon Automotive Solutions in order to help it in supporting connectivity across all verticals of the thriving automotive sector. 

With the help of the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem (9x40), auto manufacturers will be able to create next generation systems that are integrated with advanced telematics as well as linked infotainment features. Moreover, the design of the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem (9x40) will also aid in providing better coverage at download speeds ranging up to 450 MBps in terms of downlink and 100 Mbps in terms of uplink, which are classified as Category 10.

The Snapdragon X5 LTE modem (9x28) is specially designed to allow manufacturers of automobiles to largely deploy long term evolution (LTE) in all the cars at download speeds that go up to 50 Mbps in terms of uplink and up to 150 Mbps in terms of downlink, which are broadly classified under Category 4. 

Along with the long term evolution (LTE) features, all of these multimode modems have been supporting all major 2G and 3G cellular standards. They also provide support to on chip integration of global position support when it comes to major constellations.

Qualcomm Technologies stated that both the Snapdragon X5 and X12 LTE modems meant for automotive interwork with the Qualcomm Vive QCA65x4 chip set. 

In addition to this, the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem (9x40) provides support to the Carrier Aggregation (CA) across global FDD and TDD radio frequency bands. This is the most recent and advanced LTE modem belonging to QTI within the 20nm technology node.
