China, being the world’s largest automotive market, has always been the primary and most attractive target of expansion for Johnson Controls. The global multi-industrial firm is already established itself well for decades in China. The company manufactures circular knitted and warp knitted fabrics and in the China market Johnson Controls continues to do an impressive job with the help of key customer partnerships, plant openings, strategic agreements, and joint ventures.
The second global corporate headquarters to be set up in Shanghai will commence in 2017 and this will significantly aid growth opportunities in many regions within the Asia-Pacific.
Vice chairman of Johnson Controls’ Asia-Pacific division Beda Bolzenius said that the company already has extensive relationships and facilities required to serve China’s automotive market. However, they wish to increase its manufacturing capacity and expand its footprint into many more operational areas as and when the market demand rises. Bolzenius also said that with the help of investments, they have been able to reach every part of China as well as the Asia-Pacific region. They have also been able to provide efficient, fast, and localized services to all of its customers.
Johnson Controls has numerous partnerships in China which include 61 manufacturing plants in 30 cities, 32 joint ventures, and 22,000 employees. The company was recently awarded the “Top Employer China” award for the fourth time in a row, recognizing its capabilities in China.
Johnson Controls in May 2014 entered into a definitive agreement with Yanfeng Automotive Trim Systems, Co. Ltd. to develop a worldwide automotive interiors joint venture.
