Jacob’s Engineering Group is on the move for a stronger presence in China by taking over a control interest in the Chinese chemical engineering enterprise Suzhou Han’s Chemical Engineering Co. Ltd. The conditions of the takeover that are made through a sister concern of Jacobs Projects Co. Ltd though remain undisclosed.
The company which will be called Jacobs Engineering (Suzhou) Co. Ltd henceforth has two licenses for China that are specialty Class A in the areas of petrochemicals, chemical, and pharmaceuticals. This gives the company to do all types of engineering design for China for chemical projects that could be any size, plus procurement and services for project management for several projects.
The Pasadena based company Jacobs said, the Shanghai operation of the company currently has Class B license for chemical, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals in the country. The sign will further enhance Jacob’s performances in China, which includes bringing Class A design licenses, adding office facility in Suzhou, in the province of Jiangsu, and increasing the Jacob’s workforce in China to above 500.
The takeover is a mark of a commendable growth strategy for Jacob in China, as quoted by Jacobs Group Vice President Kevin McMahan. Since inception in 2006, Suzhou Han’s Chemical Engineering Co. Ltd has accomplished over 200 projects all of which have an exemplary safety record.
The Group Vice President further added, the acquisition of Suzhou Han’s Chemical Engineering Co. Ltd will enhance the services to clients, strengthen capabilities to contend for projects, and increased opportunities for the workforce.
