One of the more unfortunate truths about today’s society is that a lot of it can be stress-inducing for a large number of people. While the sources and reasons may differ, the end result is almost always the same. It is no wonder that a constantly increasing number of people are being told that they have high blood pressure. The solution to this problem lies in the creation of the problem itself. Most of the people today lead highly inactive lifestyles in terms of physical movement. Whether their job forces them to be sedentary or other factors such as diabetes and obesity, the resultant hypertension is still an existing issue.
We now know that high blood pressure is the leading cause of heart attacks, kidney failures, and strokes. We also know that a physically inactive and mentally stressful lifestyle is the leading cause of high blood pressure. At the same time there are negative consumption habits that are causing a horde of health issues including hypertension. These include consumption of cigarettes, alcohol, and tobacco. But one this that is being discounted, and shouldn’t, is the rising number of geriatric patients. As the baby boomer era comes to a close, the high number of senior citizens are drastically increasing the number of sick people that need medical attention. On an average, people aged above 55 years are 90% more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. On the whole, the global market for blood pressure testing devices is expected to reach US$3.6 bn by 2019.
One of the most natural methods of reducing blood pressure is to consumer yoghurt. Recent studies have shown that people who consumed additional services of 5 to 6 servings per week had a 20 per cent lower risk of increasing their blood pressure. At the same time, bariatric procedures are also being considered as a solution to hypertension, as obesity is one of the major causes of high blood pressure.
