In its mega annual event, WWDC, Apple announced a plethora of new hardware and software. Although being a conference for developers, it also gives Apple’s customers a sneak peek into the upcoming software features and products. The mega announcement that Apple did in this conference is the introduction of the new HomePod. The new HomePod has a loudspeaker that is voice-activated and is powered by Apple’s virtual voice assistant, Siri. Similar to Google and Amazon, the HomePod speaker can respond to questions asked and administer smart home gadgets namely lights, heating and cooling systems, and several others.
Features of HomePod
HomePod is the brand new connected home speaker launched by Apple with special focus on the quality of the audio. It is powered by the A8 processor of Apple that enables different types of software audio expertise. Inside the tiny enclosure, it hides a 4-inch throw woofer, six microphones, and seven tweeters, each one having their individual amplifier. HomePod is spatially vigilant, that is it maps the room in which it has been placed and accordingly optimizes the audio output required for the room. Different functions such as reading messages, questions related to traffic, weather, news, and playing music can be performed in the HomePod using Siri. If there are two HomePod speaker placed at the same place, they will work automatically in sync with each other.
