The owner of Floyd Nutrition LLC, Cheryl Floyd has been charged for introducing misbranded drugs in the interstate commerce and for money laundering. Floyd Cheryl Brown, alias Floyd is the proprietor and operator of the internet based business known as Floyd Nutrition LLC that is run from her residence in Harrisburg and warehouse facilities in the area.

The items that were sold between 2010 and 2014 were intended to be all natural dietary supplements meant for weight loss. The dietary supplement contains phenolphphthalein and sibutramine that are not listed in the ingredients of the product. 

As per the U.S. FDA, sibutramine which was an active ingredient of the prescription weight loss drug Meridia was taken away from the market in 2010 on account of increased heart rate and stroke occurrences in the population that was under study. Similarly, Phenolphphthalein was an active over-the-counter until 1999, later which FDA was classified it to have carcinogenic risk.

Further, FDA has detained shipment arriving from China for Floyd’s business. In July 2014, a search warrants carried at locations of Floyd’s business resulted in seizure of the product in large quantities. The products that were sold on the Internet had names such as Slim Trim U, ZXT Bee Pollen, Bnew Beauty and Body, Magic Slim, Lean Body Extreme, ZXT Gold Infinity, ZXT Slim Bee Pollen, and Natural Body Solutions. 

The criminal charges against Floyd’s also includes money laundering from the sales proceeds of the misbranded products and so the government is executing forfeiting of properties owned by the defendant that includes nine bank accounts and a truck.
