Ford Motor Co. is enjoying its rising number of sales trucks in the United States; however the company has been currently looking out for success from two of its passenger cars in China. The Ford Mondeo and the Ford Escort had set record in sales performances in the previous month for the Blue Oval in China. Ford's total sales have grown by 9 % every year through the first quarter and have recorded sales of around 296,825 vehicles.
Most of the sales number was a contribution of the joint venture of Ford's passenger car, Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), which sold almost 218,487 vehicles in the first quarter of the year with an increase of 12 %. China Jiangling Motors Corp., another joint venture in China of the Dearborn automaker, had a sales increase of about 5 % and sold around 70,582 cars in the first quarter of the year. In the previous month, the company built its 6th assembly plant in the nation, with an investment of US$760 million for the Changan Ford plant in Hangzhou.
This new facility will increase the production capacity for Ford by 250,000 vehicles, and the Dearborn automaker said that it will help in meeting the growing demand in the country. The company further said the new plant is basically an integral part of its goal to increase the global sales by 45 to 55% and record around 9.4 million vehicles every year by the end of 2020. It will bring Ford's total capacity of manufacturing in China by 1.4 million vehicles.
The Ford’s Edge model is the pioneer vehicle which is being manufactured at the Changan Ford Plant in Hangzhou, and is also a part of Ford's plant which has brought 15 more vehicles in Chinese market by 2015.
