Before international entrepreneurs and the U.S. companies think about collaborating with the Chinese medical devices industry, they are planning to do a survey of the market, just like what the locals do. An online platform will be launched by the end of this year to connect the Chinese healthcare consumers with medical institutions and hospitals in the U.S. The Citizen Health Platform of Shenzhen, a medical service offered in the southern area of China is aiming to allow the Chinese healthcare consumers to access to the online platform and download personal medical records. Through the online platform, the consumers will be able to receive their diagnostic report from any of the members of the network, namely United Healthcare, UCSE Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Mayo Clinic. The diagnostic report will let the people know about their health condition.
Renee-Maria Stephano, the president of the Medical Tourism Association, stated that the online platform is a Hong Kong based partnership between Good Health System Group and the Institute of Cell and Molecular Medicine. The platform will assist the Chinese residents with their disposable income to avail follow-up treatments abroad. Medical tourism has now become an alternative for the Chinese people who are willing to spend more to avail best medical facilities, stated Renee-Marie.
There has been an increase in the number of people seeking best medical services, especially medical care for children, treatments for people suffering from cancer, and those seeking cardiovascular treatments. Many Chinese residents travel oversees to avail advanced medications. The U.S. companies have sensed a growth potential in the Chinese medical services industry and are looking to first understand the regulatory requirements. Opportunities in health services, medical devices, specialized treatments, wearable devices, and telemedicine, have a great investment potential. Tailored medical tourism has already received global acceptance. Most of the companies connecting people to medical tourism treatments oversees, assist them in visa applications, airport pickups, and accommodations
