In the month of March, United Technologies Corporation made an announcement of an education partnership with the CFFPD - China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development. This partnership will help in developing and deploying STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. This education curriculum programs will be held for primary as well as middle school students in Hong’an region of Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. The curriculum studies will emphasize on encouraging greater student and their parent’s concern in pursuing STEM associated courses and careers. With the help of this program, students will be able to develop their interest in their favorite field, enhance their critical thinking power, and improve problem-solving skills. All these skills are very necessary for becoming scientists, engineers, and other professionals of the future who will drive innovation and economic growth across the globe.
The General Secretary of China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Deveopment, Shen Xin stated that CFFPD is uniquely designed, which is making exclusive use its domestic and international relationships, to present innovative and essential STEM syllabus units to classrooms throughout China. Shen Xing further added that the increasing achievements and aspirations of Chinese students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education studies is a mutual responsibility among businesses, government agencies and non-governmental organizations of China and United States.
In addition, the STEM classroom lessons designed for the Chinese students, the partnership between United States and China will also encourage the exchange of STEM skills between students and teachers. Moreover, the STEM summer camp offerings and parent-student STEM lectures and conversations will round out the partnership’s programs.
