The biggest supply chain trade show for automotive comes to Birmingham for the first time- a move which further corroborates confidence in the flourishing motor industry in the UK.
Automechanika Birmingham will witness hundreds of companies in the supply of automotive and aftermarket companies connect with buyers from across the world to be held from June 7-9 at the NEC.
The event has largely been possible through a partner relationship between the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and the automotive trade body and the organizer of the biggest trade show in the world Messe Frankfurt.
Almost 15 Automechanika events are held all over the world each year, the biggest one happening in Frankfurt, and having being hosted in the UK first time. It is expected about 250 exhibiting companies and 5,000 trade visitors will participate in the event.
As per SMMT, hosting the show in Birmingham will give companies in the UK a perfect chance to lure new business from overseas and also open up opportunity for the £4 billion that is available to be grabbed in the domestic market.
British cares are manufactured with a growing proportion of domestically produced parts, but British companies in the automotive supply chain are yet to take advantage of the £4 billion worth of business available in the market.
The growing of the supply chain in the UK and the opportunities yet to be capitalized on were the highlight of the Automotive Council report, titled “Growing the Automotive Supply Chain- The Opportunity Ahead” which was published in March this year.
The report divulged details about the domestic component makers, most of whom are based in the Midlands, sold almost 19% or even more products to vehicle producers in the UK, than what they did in 2013.
